Two goals from Dan Jarman were not enough for Undy AFC as they lost 3-2 to Cambrian & Clydach Vale B.G.C. in their opening game of the JD Sports Cymru South season.

Because of the pandemic, both sides hadn't contested a league fixture in over 500 days - and it was the visitors who started the brighter of the two at the Causeway.

After 12 minutes, Ceri Morgan found his strike partner, Ryan Prossor for an easy tap in at the back post and gave Cambrian the lead.

With their tails up, they added a second on 24 minutes.  Josh Bull who got behind the Undy defence, played it across to the left back Cam Strinati, who did the rest with a low drive into the bottom right-hand corner of the net.

Bull, who looked a threat throughout the first 45, went for a third - but his shot was parried well away by James Smallcombe in the Undy goal.

Looking to put the game to bed, Bull again should have done just that immediately from the restart.  Through in on goal, he dragged his shot wide, much to the relief of Lewis Thomas' men.

Ten minutes later, Undy pulled a goal back.  Brushing off a couple of opposition players, Dan Jarman hit a well struck shot from outside the box to get his team back in it.  It was the first real moment of quality from the home side.

Less than two minutes later though, Cambrian restored their two-goal advantage.  Bull was brought down in the box and Prosser calmly slotted away the spot kick which followed for his second of the night.

Ten minutes later, the home side were awarded a penalty of their own, after Sam Broadribb was bundled over.  Dan Jarman stepped up coolly to make it 3-2 - which set up a tense last half hour to the game.

In search of an equaliser, it was now Undy, who were on the front foot with them going to a more attacking set up.  It nearly paid off when Sam Thomas' cross was met by the head of Gareth Cullimore - but it was unable to properly test Cameron Clarke in the away goal.

The home side continued to probe and throw everything at it - but in the end, they were unable to find a way past the stubborn Cambrian defense.

Undy next play on Tuesday when they travel to Trefelin B.G.C. in the league.
