Our girls

Welcome to the Undy Girls’ Section!

We formed in November 2018 and since then have established a squad of girls aged 7 – 13 who are a very friendly bunch.  We train every Saturday morning between 10 & 11 at the Club and we would love to welcome more girls to come along and join us.  So, whether you have played football before or never kicked a ball in your life, why not come to one of our sessions and see for yourself?

For more information, please contact Rhi or Dave on undygirls@undyafc.co.uk.

Please see what we have been up to and what we have planned by reading the rest of this page.  It’s a great time for female football in Wales, take a look…

Our plans

With a decent-sized squad of girls regularly training each week, we hope to be able to enter some teams into local junior girls’ leagues starting from next season (2020/21).  The club’s junior football ethos really focusses on our players having fun whilst they learn and develop their football skills.  Leagues are a great way of doing this, but we will make sure that all girls continue to get the chance to play football with a smile on their faces.  This is in line with the FAW junior football ethos and all our coaches are fully trained and registered with the FAW.  Our code of conduct is really important to us, for players, coaches and supporters.

To enable the growth of our girls’ section, as well as always welcoming new players, we would love to hear from anybody who wants to help out with coaching too.  The club has a well-laid out coach recruitment and induction process and all training is fully funded; you will also have excellent peer support and mentorship from a more experienced coach in your first season. Why not come along on Saturday mornings and ask one of our existing coaches?

Our upcoming events

Huddle – We are delighted to be an official provider of this exciting, 12-week programme, set up by the FAW Trust to bring girls aged 5-12, who haven’t played football before, into the game.  It’s all about fun, friendship and footy!  For more information, and to register, please click on the Huddle Official Provider image (to the right) – our Huddle sessions start on Saturday 14th September between 9am-10am and our coaches and existing players can’t wait to get started.  We even have our own Welsh International Player as our Huddle Ambassador – the one and only Helen Ward!  Keep an eye on Facebook and Twitter for more details of our Huddle.

Female Football Festivals – With Huddle, our girls’ training and the newly re-formed ladies section sessions, Saturday mornings at Undy AFC are the only place to be!  Come along and see what our Female Football Festivals are all about, every Saturday from the 14th September, between 9am – 12.30 pm.

Hear from our players – Starting soon, some of our existing players will be writing about their experiences at Undy Girls.  Stay tuned for more info soon…
