2021 Undy AFC Golf Day - Old Course, St Pierre

Over 70 golfers, including players, supporters, sponsors and coaches went out in search of glory on Sunday as some normality returned with our Golf day. They went out in lovely sunny, breezy conditions and mostly came back in a downpour, but even a lovely resort like St Pierre can’t guarantee the weather. The texas scramble format created a competitive but fun event and it took some great golf to win it on day when the whole field finished under par.

  19. Clivo’s team – disq!

The scoring was particularly impressive given the ferocity of the downpour on the back nine as was the tenacity of most of the field for staying out in it (disappointing to see a team full of centre halves quit because they were a bit wet – yes, Stevens, Roberts and Windsor we do mean you). In the end a score of 59.6 strokes (11.4 under) won it for the team consisting of Bern Alderson, Jon Beese, Adam Clarke and Keir Harvey. Top quality prizes were won including some amazing signed golf attire from none other than Lee Westwood (special thanks to friend of the stars Jim Roberts for sorting those) although I think the most pleased were the team in 3rd place, led by Paul Collins who each won an Undy season ticket!

A special mention also to the team of Sam Richardson, Alex Harris, Tom Wright and Ben Smith for coming plum last – stick to football boys. The rain eased off in time for a socially distanced presentation on the Undy Afc pitch and it was great to see a full beer garden at the Causeway Bar to finish the day off.

We would like to thank Paul Collins and St Pierre for hosting a superb day, Jason Anderson for superb action shots of the day, Messrs Hudson and Childs for great event organisation, our staff for keeping everyone topped up back at the Causeway Bar afterwards but most of all to everyone who supported the event by playing in it. We look forward to seeing you all at the next one.
